What We Do

“One grows or dies. There is no third possibility.”

Oswald Spengler

Counselling

The primary goal of counselling is to address issues in your current life and can be extremely beneficial in order to make valid, appropriate, and considered decisions. This process is usually achieved through the provision of short-to-medium term support and intervention for a particular issue or crisis you are facing, and often revolves around problem-solving and is solution-focused. Counselling provides a neutral space for you to explore objectively, and under expert guidance, what you need for yourself within a safe and confidential framework.

Psychotherapy

Many people experience psychological and emotional difficulties that cause discomfort in their lives, either within themselves or with their relationships, their families, or at work. Psychotherapy is a process that facilitates a journey inwards and explores the deeper aspects of both the conscious and unconsciousness in relation to these difficulties.

Psychotherapy is usually medium to long term and takes place within a safe, confidential, and affirming setting with the support of a highly qualified and professionally trained psychotherapist. We are trained to work in a variety of different approaches depending on the client’s needs, however, our primary modality is psychodynamic psychotherapy which explores how our early/past experiences influence the way we make sense and meaning of our lives in the present. In addition to a psychodynamic psychotherapy approach, we also draw from our toolkit of other modalities such as cognitive-behavioural therapy, Jungian, and Gestalt psychotherapy wherever it may be appropriate.

Some of the issues clients seek therapy for include:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Trauma/ Abuse – physical, emotional, sexual
  • Sexuality and gender identity
  • Issues related to self-esteem and self-worth
  • Stress and/or burnout
  • Grief and loss
  • Unsatisfying or destructive relationships
  • Coping with difficult life experiences
  • Addictions
  • Pervasive feelings of meaninglessness or emptiness
  • Gaining insight and understanding of how past patterns affect you now
  • Immigration and adjustment issues
  • Assistance with a variety of mental health issues and personality  disorders.

Psychotherapy can be supportive and/or exploratory and may be extremely helpful for those individuals who seek to know and understand themselves better. Levels of self-awareness increase about one’s desires, needs, beliefs, and motivations that often lie just outside of consciousness.

Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)

Employees’ personal problems can sometimes affect the workplace, negatively impacting on performance and productivity. An Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) is a way organisations can show a sincere interest in the well-being of its employees by providing them with access to professional support.

By supporting and strengthening the workplace environment through maintaining and enhancing the health, well-being and therefore the performance and productivity of its staff, EAP is a program which places emphasis on confidentiality, self-initiative and prevention.

In a healthy working culture people in the organisation demonstrate:

  • Job satisfaction
  • A sense of involvement, positivity and commitment
  • Good levels of energy and motivation
  • Open and honest communication
  • Resilience to stress
  • Strong morale
  • Low absenteeism

We are also available to work with and support employees faced with redundancy, whether or not as a result of these uncertain times due to coronavirus.
